Porter and Chester Institute Comes to Worcester

Porter and Chester Institute is growing and has just moved to a brand new location in Worcester to meet the expanding needs of its students and the community it serves. The new campus, located across from Showcase Cinemas Worcester North, will occupy a 50,000 square foot space at 220 Brooks Street.

The Worcester facility consolidates the two former Porter and Chester Institute - Westborough campuses and brings some 40 employees and more than 200 students under one roof. According to Vice President of Operations, Phil Krebs, the career training school will be better equipped to serve even more students.

“The design of this campus is student-centric,” said Krebs. “Students will have more space and an expanded, centrally located student lounge. The overall format and furnishings are intended to give students a positive learning environment where they can reach their full potential.”

Changes from the previous locations include new classrooms, a larger automotive shop and a two-story work area for the electrician program. According to Krebs, Worcester also offers students a more central location and easier access to public transportation.

“We’re excited to plant our roots in this new Massachusetts location to further our commitment to our students and the community,” said Krebs. “We were in Westborough for nearly a decade and we intend to make Worcester our home for even longer.”

Porter and Chester Institute has been a New England presence since it was founded in Connecticut back in 1946. From its very first career training school, the Porter School of Engineering Design, Porter and Chester Institute has expanded to nine locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts. With a focus on matching its programs to the needs of area employers, Porter and Chester Institute now offers 10 career training programs including those in healthcare, automotive technology, information technology and the trades.
