What is the Job Outlook for Automotive Technology?

The Automotive Technology program (auto tech) at Porter and Chester Institute can be completed in as few as 12 months. This program is offered in a hybrid format with students required on campus three days per week for in-person labs. The rest of the coursework and assignments for this program takes place online. Online materials are available in an asynchronous format 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The program can be completed through the Bridgeport, Hamden, Rocky Hill, and Waterbury, CT campuses and the Brockton, Chicopee, and Worcester, MA campuses.

Job Outlook

Although the job outlook for automotive technology is expected to decline slightly, the number of vehicles in use is set to continue to rise. This is partly due to the fact that the prevalence of electric vehicles is increasing which could mean that less maintenance will be needed. However, technicians will still be needed to perform basic repairs and maintenance on things that can’t be fixed on their own.

In the state of Connecticut, the average salary for this position is roughly $40,800 per year .
