Although the job outlook for automotive technology is expected to decline slightly, the number of vehicles in use is set to continue to rise. This is partly due to the fact that the prevalence of electric vehicles is increasing which could mean that less maintenance will be needed. However, technicians will still be needed to perform basic repairs and maintenance on things that can’t be fixed on their own.
As of August 2021, the average nationwide salary for automotive technicians is roughly $47,200 per year. In the state of Connecticut, the average salary for this position is roughly $40,800 per year . For Massachusetts, the average automotive technician salary is roughly $39,600 per year . “Average salary” includes workers will all levels of education and experience and does not represent entry level salary
