What Can You Do with a Diploma in Computer Aided Drafting and Design?

The Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) program at Porter and Chester Institute (PCI) can be completed fully online in as few as 12 months. The program is available to Connecticut and Massachusetts residents, and graduates earn a diploma.

There are several occupations that may be open to individuals who have completed the program. Some may require additional training or experience in the field. These jobs may include:

  • Mechanical Drafters
  • Architectural Drafters
  • Civil Drafters
  • Aeronautical Drafters
  • Marine Drafters
  • Electrical Drafters
  • Electronic Drafters

There are also entry level jobs that graduates may specialize in:

  • Architectural structures

  • Mechanical systems design
  • Industrial design

Through PCI, students will be taught skills needed to excel in the CADD field. 2D and 3D drafting techniques, including parametric modeling, is included in the CADD program along with software training with programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Revit. Students will also be taught fundamentals of design, construction, and manufacturing. CADD skills may also be used in fields such as healthcare and forensics.
